The cartoons in this book (except for the very first one and the very last one) are printed in chronological order, with the dates when they first appeared. Out of more than a thousand drawings I've done for the Post-Dispatch over the last three years, Harper's and I selected some 160-odd which we thought made up a sort of cartoon history of international and national affairs during the end of the Eisenhower administration and the beginning of the Kennedy Era.
Here and there are written short comments along with the cartoons, partly as a reminder of the event that inspired the picture, but mostly in the spirit of the host with the slide projector who just can't keep his mouth shut as he flicks from scene to scene.
